“Parenting Just Got Sweeter: Easy Home-Baked Pastries with Sweet or Savory Fillings!”
Pastries with Sweet or Savory Fillings
As a stay at home parent, I am always looking for creative ways to keep my family entertained. One of my favorite recipes to make is pastries with sweet or savory fillings. Not only are they delicious, but they are also fun to make. Plus, they can be customized to the individual’s preferences.
Ingredients:
-1 package of store-bought puff pastry dough
-1/2 cup of your favorite sweet filling (fruit jam, nutella, etc.)
-1/2 cup of your favorite savory filling (spinach and feta cheese, ham and cheese, etc.)
-1 egg
-Pinch of salt
-1 tablespoon of melted butter
-Sugar for dustingInstructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
2. Unroll the puff pastry dough onto a lightly floured surface and cut it into squares. Place the squares onto the baking sheet.
3. In a small bowl, combine the egg and melted butter and whisk together until well blended. Use a pastry brush to brush the edges of each square with the egg mixture.
4. Place 1 teaspoon of your favorite sweet or savory filling in the middle of each square and fold each square in half to form a triangle shape. Pinch the edges together with a fork to seal them shut.
5. Gently brush each pastry with more egg mixture and sprinkle lightly with sugar. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown on top. Allow to cool before serving!Making pastries with sweet or savory fillings is always a hit in my home! Not only do my little ones love helping me make them, but they also love eating them! It’s even better when I’m able to surprise them with different fillings each time we make them together. For example, one time I made strawberry jam pastries for my daughter and ham and cheese pastries for my son! It was such a special moment watching their faces light up when they realized that I had made their favorite flavors just for them!
I think it is so important as parents to show our children that we care by taking the time out of our busy schedules to make something special just for them! Whether it is baking pastries or something else entirely, making something from scratch will not only bring joy to your children’s lives but it will also create lasting memories that you can cherish forever!

• 2 cloves garlic
• ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
