Beef Burgundy: A delicious and classic slow-cooker meal that’s perfect for busy families

As a stay-at-home parent, I know how difficult it can be to come up with creative and delicious meals that the whole family can enjoy. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for easy recipes that can be made in a slow cooker, since it allows me to set it up in the morning and then enjoy the rest of my day with the kids without worrying about dinner. One of my favorite slow-cooker meals is Beef Burgundy, a classic dish that’s sure to please even the pickiest of eaters.

This recipe has been in my family for generations, passed down from my grandmother who knew how to make a delicious meal without spending hours in the kitchen. The key to this dish is to simmer the beef with flavorful red wine and hearty vegetables until it’s tender enough to melt in your mouth. The result is a savory and comforting meal that everyone will love.

    Ingredients:

    • 2 pounds beef chuck roast, cut into 1-inch cubes
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 large onion, chopped
    • 4 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 cup dry red wine
    • 3 cups beef broth
    • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
    • 2 bay leaves
    • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
    • 4 large carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
    • 4 stalks celery, cut into 1-inch pieces
    • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
    • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
    • Salt and pepper to taste

    Instructions:

    1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef cubes and cook until browned on all sides. Transfer the beef cubes to a slow cooker.
    2. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Pour in the wine and scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet with a wooden spoon. Pour this mixture over the beef cubes in the slow cooker.
    3. Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, bay leaves, and thyme to the slow cooker and stir to combine. Cover and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours or on high heat for 3-4 hours.
    4. Add carrots, celery, and mushrooms to the slow cooker during the last hour of cooking time. In a small bowl whisk together flour with 1/2 cup cold water until smooth then stir into slow cooker mixture until thickened. Season with salt and pepper as desired before serving warm over egg noodles or mashed potatoes.

As I mentioned earlier, this Beef Burgundy recipe has been in my family for generations, so it holds a special place in my heart as something that I’ve shared with my loved ones since childhood. The aroma alone is enough to take me back to all those special times we shared around our dinner table enjoying this delicious dish together—and now I get to do that same thing with my own family as well! This recipe is sure to become one of your go-to dishes for busy days when you need something that’s both easy and tasty—enjoy!

“Satisfy Your Whole Family with this Delicious Shepherd’s Pie Recipe – A Stay at Home Parent’s Guide”

Shepherd’s Pie – An Engaging Blog As A Stay At Home Parent

As a stay at home parent, I know how difficult it can be to find ways to keep the kiddos happily engaged. One of my favorite activities is cooking together. Not only is it educational, but it also creates delicious and memorable dishes. One of my favorite recipes is Shepherd’s Pie. It’s a hearty and comforting meal that the whole family will love.

To get started, gather all of the ingredients:
    -2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
    -1 large onion, diced
    -3 cloves of garlic, minced
    -1 pound of ground beef
    -1 teaspoon of dried thyme
    -2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
    -1 tablespoon of tomato paste
    -1 cup of frozen corn
    -1 cup of frozen peas
    -2 cups of beef broth
-3 large potatoes, peeled and diced
    -2 tablespoons of butter, melted
    -Salt and pepper to taste

Now that we have all of the ingredients ready, let’s begin. Start by heating the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add in the onion and cook until it begins to soften, about 5 minutes. Add in the garlic and cook for another minute or two. Next, add in the ground beef and cook until it is no longer pink. Then add in the thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste and stir to combine everything together. Let this simmer for about 5 minutes before adding in the frozen vegetables. Stir everything together and then add in the beef broth. Bring this mixture to a boil before reducing the heat to low. Simmer for 15 minutes or until most of the liquid has been absorbed.

While that cooks, prepare the topping by bringing a pot filled with water to a boil. Add in the potatoes and cook until they are tender enough to mash, about 10 minutes. Drain them and then mash them with butter until they are smooth and creamy. Add salt and pepper to taste and set aside until you are ready to assemble your pie.

Once your filling has finished cooking, preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and transfer everything into a 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread out the mashed potatoes on top as evenly as possible before placing it into your preheated oven. Bake for 25 minutes or until your topping is golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving so that everything has time to set up properly. Enjoy!

The story behind my Shepherd’s Pie recipe is one that I hold close to my heart because it reminds me of homecooked meals with my parents when I was growing up. My mom used to make this dish whenever we had company over or if she wanted something special for dinner one night; I can still remember how comforting it smelled wafting through our home as everyone gathered around our kitchen table for dinner time conversations and laughter. To me, Shepherd’s Pie will always represent good times spent with family and friends; a reminder that food can bring people together even when they are miles apart in distance or years apart in age!

Beef Pot Pie – A Recipe for the Stay at Home Parent

As a stay at home parent, I am always looking for recipes that are fast, easy and delicious. One dish that I can make without too much hassle is beef pot pie. A great way to use up leftovers and to keep your family full and happy, beef pot pie is a crowd-pleaser. As an added bonus, the recipe is easy enough that even the kids can help make it.

When I make beef pot pie, I like to use ingredients I already have in my pantry or refrigerator. For this particular recipe, you will need: one pound of ground beef, two tablespoons of butter, one cup of diced onion, two cloves of minced garlic, one cup of carrots (diced), one cup of celery (diced), one cup of frozen peas, two tablespoons of all-purpose flour, one teaspoon of dried oregano, one teaspoon of salt and black pepper to taste. You will also need one can of cream of mushroom soup and one package of refrigerated biscuit dough.

To make the beef pot pie, start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Next, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the onions and garlic. Cook for about three minutes until the onions are translucent. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until it is no longer pink. Then add the carrots, celery and frozen peas and cook for an additional five minutes until everything is heated through.

Once the vegetables are cooked through, sprinkle with flour and mix until combined. Add in the oregano, salt and pepper and stir again until everything is evenly distributed throughout the mixture. Pour in the cream of mushroom soup and stir together until everything is evenly combined. Let this mixture simmer for about five minutes or until thickened slightly.

Transfer the filling into a 9×13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly across the bottom. Place six biscuits across the top of the filling in an even layer. Bake in your preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown on top. Let cool before serving warm with your favorite side dishes.

Every time I make beef pot pie my family devours it! The hearty flavor from the beef pairs perfectly with the savory veggies and creamy sauce all tucked into a flaky biscuit crust – what’s not to love? Plus with this recipe being so easy to make, it’s perfect for busy days when you don’t have time to slave away in the kitchen but still want something that feels like homemade comfort food!
