Fried shrimp with garlic and chili sauce is one of my favorite dishes that I can whip up in no time, and it’s always a hit with the family. This recipe is simple to make and the ingredients are inexpensive, but it always tastes like something special.

To make this dish, you’ll need to gather the following ingredients:
    • 1 pound of peeled and deveined shrimp
    • 1 cup of flour
    • 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
    • 2 teaspoons of chili powder
    • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
    • 2 cloves of minced garlic
    • ¼ cup of soy sauce
    • 2 tablespoons of honey
    • 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
    • Salt and pepper to taste.

The first step is to prepare the shrimp. Place the shrimp in a bowl and season them with garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Toss them together until they are evenly coated. Then take the flour and season it with a pinch of salt and pepper. Dredge the shrimp in the seasoned flour until all sides are coated. Next, heat the oil in a skillet until it’s hot enough for frying. Fry the shrimp in batches for about two minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain off any excess oil.

While the shrimp are frying, you can prepare the garlic chili sauce by heating two tablespoons of oil in a small pot over medium heat. Add in the minced garlic and fry for about a minute before adding in the soy sauce, honey, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Lower the heat and let it simmer for about five minutes until it thickens up into a sauce-like consistency.

When everything is ready, serve up your fried shrimp with garlic chili sauce on top! It’s such an easy dish that looks fancy enough to serve up as a dinner party appetizer or weeknight dinner entree. The combination of sweet and spicy flavors goes perfectly with the crunchy fried shrimps!

Falafel – A Tasty Middle Eastern Treat for the Whole Family

If you’re looking for a tasty, healthy and filling meal that is sure to please the whole family, look no further than falafel. Falafel is a traditional Middle Eastern dish that is made from chickpeas or fava beans that have been mashed and mixed with spices such as cumin and coriander. The mixture is then formed into small balls or patties, deep fried and served hot. Falafel can be served as a main course or side dish, wrapped in pita bread with vegetables, hummus, tahini or other toppings.

As a stay-at-home parent, I’m always on the lookout for easy meals that are both healthy and delicious. Falafel is the perfect option – not only is it quick to prepare, but it’s also full of nutritious ingredients like chickpeas and spices. And best of all, my kids love it! They love helping me form the little falafel balls before we fry them up, as well as deciding which vegetables to add to the wrap.

I’ve been making falafel from scratch for years now, but there are also some great pre-made mixes out there if you’re in a rush or don’t have all the ingredients on hand. I find that either way it turns out delicious.

The story of falafel goes back centuries, though its exact origin remains unknown. One popular version of the story tells of a poor Arab man who was looking for a way to make a hearty meal out of what little he had – namely chickpeas and spices. He formed them into small balls and deep fried them – thus creating the first falafel!

    Ingredients:
1 cup dried chickpeas (or 1 can chickpeas)
    1 small onion
    2 cloves garlic
    2 tsp cumin
    2 tsp coriander
    1 tsp baking powder
    Salt & pepper to taste
    Vegetable oil for frying
Pita breads & toppings to serve (optional)

    Instructions:

    1. If using dried chickpeas, start by soaking them overnight in plenty of cold water. Drain and rinse well before using.

    2. Add the chickpeas to a food processor along with the onion, garlic, cumin, coriander and baking powder. Pulse until everything is combined but still slightly chunky (you don’t want it too smooth).

    3. Season with salt and pepper then shape into small balls or patties (depending on your preference).

    4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat until hot but not smoking. Fry the falafel in batches until golden brown on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).

    5. Serve hot with pita breads and your choice of toppings such as hummus, tahini or vegetables. Enjoy!
