Master the Art of Cooking with Kids: Delicious Fried Tofu with Teriyaki Sauce!
Fried Tofu with Teriyaki Sauce
Ingredients:
-1 block of extra firm tofu
-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
-1/4 cup cornstarch
-1 teaspoon garlic powder
-1 teaspoon onion powder
-Salt and pepper to taste
-3 tablespoons vegetable oil
-3 tablespoons soy sauce
-2 tablespoons mirin (rice wine)
-2 tablespoons brown sugar
-2 tablespoons honey
-1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
-1 tablespoon sesame oil
-2 cloves garlic, mincedAs a stay at home parent, I often find myself looking for new recipes that are healthy, easy to make, and that my family will enjoy. Fried tofu with teriyaki sauce is one of our favorites! Not only is it a delicious dinner option that doesn’t require a lot of prep time or ingredients, but it’s also vegan, gluten free, and packed with flavor. Plus, it’s an ideal way to use up any extra tofu you might have in the pantry.
To begin making this tasty dish, start by pressing the tofu to remove excess water. Cut the block into cubes and set aside. In a shallow dish or bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper. Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until they’re evenly coated. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes and cook for about 5 minutes or until golden brown on both sides. Remove from heat and set aside on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
In a small bowl whisk together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, honey, ginger, sesame oil and garlic. Pour the mixture into the same skillet used for frying the tofu and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and add the cooked tofu cubes back into the skillet with the teriyaki sauce. Toss everything together to coat evenly in the sauce and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until sauce has thickened slightly.
This delicious fried tofu with teriyaki sauce is best served over steamed white or brown rice and topped with sesame seeds and green onions for an extra kick of flavor. We love it as part of a meal but you can also enjoy it as an appetizer or side dish on its own! The possibilities are endless when you have this flavor packed dish in your arsenal!
Fried tofu with teriyaki sauce is one of my favorite dishes because it’s so easy to make yet so flavorful! It also comes together quickly so I can have dinner on the table in no time – which is always a plus when I’m trying to juggle parenting duties while still getting dinner ready for my family! Whether you’re vegan or not – I guarantee you’ll love this dish as much as we do!

Chicken and Shrimp Stir-Fry with Noodles Recipe
As a stay-at-home parent, I know how important it is to have easy, tasty recipes that can be thrown together quickly. This chicken and shrimp stir-fry with noodles is one of my go-to recipes for busy nights. Not only is it fast and easy to make, but it’s also full of flavor and packed with protein.
Ingredients:
• 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-size pieces
• 1 lb shrimp (raw or cooked), peeled and deveined
• 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
• 2 tablespoons honey
• 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 teaspoon ground ginger
• 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
• 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 2 bunches scallions (green onions), chopped
• 8 ounces wide egg noodles
• 2 cups snow peas or snap peas, trimmed
• 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)Instructions:
1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add the shrimp and cook for another 3 minutes. Stir in the scallions and cook for another minute. Pour the soy sauce mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Simmer until the sauce has reduced slightly. Remove from heat.

5. To assemble the stir-fry: Place the cooked egg noodles in a large bowl with the cooked chicken and shrimp mixture from step 2, cooked snow peas or snap peas from step 4, sesame seeds (if using), and reserved soy sauce mixture from step 1; toss everything together until evenly combined. Serve immediately with additional soy sauce if desired. Enjoy!
Story: I had an interesting experience when I first made this Chicken and Shrimp Stir Fry with Noodles recipe – it was a bit of an experiment that turned out surprisingly well! I was trying to make something healthy but tasty for dinner one night when I had nothing much in my pantry – just some chicken thighs, some shrimp that had been tucked away in my freezer for months, some scallions left over from another dish I had made earlier in the week…and some egg noodles that I had picked up on a whim at the store just an hour before! I was hesitant at first – would all these ingredients come together to make something edible? But after sautéing together chicken and shrimp in soy sauce mixture with snow peas on top of egg noodles…I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it turned out! It’s now one of my go-to recipes on busy nights – fast, easy, healthy…and full of flavor!
