Fried Wontons with Hot and Sour Sauce – A Delicious Recipe for Stay at Home Parents
If you are a stay at home parent, you know how hard it can be to find quick and easy recipes that the whole family will enjoy. Fried wontons with hot and sour sauce is a great recipe to whip up. Not only is it super fast to make, but it’s also incredibly tasty!
The first step in making this delicious dish is to gather all of the ingredients you need. You’ll need wonton wrappers, ground pork, garlic, ginger, scallions, soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, cornstarch, egg whites, vegetable oil and rice vinegar. For the hot and sour sauce, you’ll need chili oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce and sugar.
Once you have all of your ingredients together it’s time to start cooking! Start by adding the ground pork to a large bowl and mix in the garlic, ginger, scallions, soy sauce and sesame oil. Once everything is well blended add in the white pepper and cornstarch. Next add in the egg whites and mix until everything is combined.
Now it’s time to fill the wonton wrappers. Take one wrapper at a time and place about one teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper. Wet your finger with water and run it along two sides of the wrapper to make sure they stick together when sealed. Then crimp them to seal.
Once all of your wontons are filled and sealed heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with vegetable oil. Once hot carefully place the wontons in the skillet in batches making sure not to overcrowd them or they won’t cook evenly. Fry until golden brown on both sides then remove from heat and drain on paper towels.
The last step is to make your hot and sour sauce. In a small bowl mix together chili oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce and sugar until combined then set aside until ready to serve.
Now that your fried wontons are done it’s time to enjoy them! Serve with hot and sour sauce on the side for dipping. This recipe makes enough for 4-6 people so there should be plenty for everyone!
I remember when my kids were younger making fried wontons with hot and sour sauce was one of their favorite dishes! It was always so fast and easy for me to make so I could spend more time playing with them instead of spending hours in the kitchen cooking dinner every night. It was always a hit with everyone in our family which made me happy as a stay at home parent!
