Shrimp and Vegetable Dumplings in Spicy Sauce: A Stay-At-Home Parent’s Dream Dinner
As a stay-at-home parent, getting dinner on the table can be a challenge. You want something that’s nutritious, delicious, and quick to make. One of my favorite go-to recipes is Shrimp and Vegetable Dumplings in Spicy Sauce. This dish is packed with protein, is easy to make, and has just the right amount of kick to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.
The first step in making this dish is to combine the ingredients for the dumpling filling. This includes one pound of raw shrimp, diced carrots and zucchini, chopped scallions, minced garlic, and diced ginger. These ingredients are combined with one egg white, ¼ cup of tamari sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and ½ teaspoon of ground black pepper. Once everything is mixed together, it should be refrigerated until you’re ready to assemble the dumplings.
Next, it’s time to assemble the dumplings. I like to use round wonton wrappers for this part. To assemble them I place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper before folding it into a triangle shape and sealing the edges with a bit of water. Once all of my dumplings are assembled, I steam them for about 12 minutes or until they’re cooked through.
Now that the dumplings are ready it’s time to make the sauce. For this I combine ¼ cup of vegetable broth with 2 tablespoons soy sauce and 2 tablespoons rice vinegar in a small saucepan. I bring this mixture to a boil before adding 1 tablespoon of red pepper flakes and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Once everything is combined I reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes or until it has thickened.
Once the sauce is done it’s time to serve! I like to plate my Shrimp and Vegetable Dumplings in Spicy Sauce with some steamed rice or quinoa on the side and top them with some chopped scallions for a bit more flavor and color.
My kids love this dish because it has just enough kick without being too spicy (although you can always add more red pepper flakes if you like your food spicier). As a stay-at-home parent this dinner is a great way to get something delicious on the table without having to spend too much time in the kitchen – which leaves me more time to spend with my family!

2. Add in the shrimp and vegetables and cook for an additional 3 minutes until the shrimp are just cooked through. Season with soy sauce and sesame oil then remove from heat. Allow to cool slightly before handling.
3. Place a wonton wrapper on a flat surface and lightly brush water around all four sides using your finger or a pastry brush. Place approximately 1 tablespoon of filling in the center then fold over into a triangle shape; press edges together to seal shut then set aside on a plate or baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat this process until all the filling has been used up.
4. Once all dumplings are formed you can either steam them or fry them in hot oil until golden brown; if you choose to fry them, be sure to keep an eye on them so they don’t burn! Dumplings with Pork and Vegetable Filling – A Delicious and Healthy Recipe for Stay at Home Parents
As a stay at home parent, it is important to have healthy meals that can be made quickly and easily. I first discovered dumplings with pork and vegetable filling when I was visiting family in Asia. My aunt had made these delicious little parcels of goodness and I was immediately hooked. I loved the combination of sweet pork mince, crunchy vegetables and the subtle flavor of soy sauce that came through in every bite.
To make dumplings with pork and vegetable filling, you will need:
• 500g minced pork
• 1 onion, finely chopped
• 2 cloves of garlic, minced
• 1 carrot, grated
• 1/2 cup of mushrooms, diced
• 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
• 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
• 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
• 2 packets of wonton wrappers or dumpling wrappers
• 2 tablespoons vegetable or peanut oil for frying
• Salt & pepper to tasteTo start, heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, carrot and mushrooms and cook until they are soft (about 5 minutes). Add the minced pork to the pan and cook until it is cooked through (about 10 minutes). Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger and salt & pepper to taste. Stir everything together until well combined. Take the pan off the heat and let it cool for 10 minutes before assembling the dumplings.
To assemble the dumplings, place a spoonful of the pork mixture onto each wrapper. Fold the wrapper up into a triangle shape (or whatever shape you prefer) so that it seals around the filling. Make sure to press down firmly around all four edges so that it doesn’t open up when frying. Repeat this step until all of the wrappers are filled.
Once your dumplings are assembled, heat the remaining oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Place as many dumplings as you can fit into the pan without overcrowding them (I usually do about 6-8 at a time) and fry for 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown on each side. Once they are cooked through, remove them from the pan using a slotted spoon or spatula – this will help keep them crisp! Serve your dumplings hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce on the side.
