As a stay at home parent, I’m always looking for new and creative ways to make mealtime fun and interesting. One of my favorite recipes is Fried Wontons with Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce. This delicious dish is easy to make, flavorful, and super simple to customize. Plus, it’s a great way to get the kids involved in the kitchen!
My story about Fried Wontons with Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce begins when I was a young girl. My mother was an amazing cook, and she would make these delicious fried wontons for us every now and then. As a child, I loved them so much that I would beg her to make them at least once a week! Even when I became an adult, I could not get enough of these fried wontons.
The best part about this recipe is how easy it is to prepare. All you need are wonton wrappers, ground pork or chicken, garlic, scallions, soy sauce, cornstarch, vegetable oil for frying, and whatever other toppings you’d like to add. Simply mix together the pork or chicken with garlic and scallions before stuffing the wonton wrappers with the mixture. Then fry the wrappers until golden brown and crispy.
For the Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce, simply mix together chili paste, rice vinegar, honey or brown sugar, water, garlic powder and sesame oil – that’s it! The dipping sauce adds just the right amount of heat and sweetness to the fried wontons.
If you’re feeling adventurous in the kitchen, you can also customize your Fried Wontons with different ingredients such as shrimp or vegetables. No matter what you choose to add to your wontons, they will always be delicious!

-1 block of extra firm tofu
-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
-1/4 cup cornstarch
-1 teaspoon garlic powder
-1 teaspoon onion powder
-Salt and pepper to taste
-3 tablespoons vegetable oil
-3 tablespoons soy sauce
-2 tablespoons mirin (rice wine)
-2 tablespoons brown sugar
-2 tablespoons honey
-1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
-1 tablespoon sesame oil
-2 cloves garlic, mincedAs a stay at home parent, I often find myself looking for new recipes that are healthy, easy to make, and that my family will enjoy. Fried tofu with teriyaki sauce is one of our favorites! Not only is it a delicious dinner option that doesn’t require a lot of prep time or ingredients, but it’s also vegan, gluten free, and packed with flavor. Plus, it’s an ideal way to use up any extra tofu you might have in the pantry.
To begin making this tasty dish, start by pressing the tofu to remove excess water. Cut the block into cubes and set aside. In a shallow dish or bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper. Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until they’re evenly coated. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes and cook for about 5 minutes or until golden brown on both sides. Remove from heat and set aside on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
In a small bowl whisk together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, honey, ginger, sesame oil and garlic. Pour the mixture into the same skillet used for frying the tofu and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and add the cooked tofu cubes back into the skillet with the teriyaki sauce. Toss everything together to coat evenly in the sauce and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until sauce has thickened slightly.
This delicious fried tofu with teriyaki sauce is best served over steamed white or brown rice and topped with sesame seeds and green onions for an extra kick of flavor. We love it as part of a meal but you can also enjoy it as an appetizer or side dish on its own! The possibilities are endless when you have this flavor packed dish in your arsenal!
Fried tofu with teriyaki sauce is one of my favorite dishes because it’s so easy to make yet so flavorful! It also comes together quickly so I can have dinner on the table in no time – which is always a plus when I’m trying to juggle parenting duties while still getting dinner ready for my family! Whether you’re vegan or not – I guarantee you’ll love this dish as much as we do!
