Beef and Green Pepper Casserole Recipe

•1 can (10.75 oz.) tomato soup
•1/2 cup water
•1/4 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
•1/4 teaspoon dried basil leaves
•1/4 teaspoon black pepper
•2 cups shredded cheese
•2 tablespoons butter
•3 cups cooked macaroni or egg noodles

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until no pink remains. Add the diced onion and garlic to the pan and cook until softened. Add the green pepper and continue cooking until the vegetables are tender. Drain any excess fat from the pan.

2. In a medium bowl, combine the tomato soup, water, oregano, basil, and black pepper and mix well. Pour this mixture into the skillet with the beef and vegetables and bring it to a simmer. Once simmering, turn off the heat.

3. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with one tablespoon of butter. Spread half of the cooked macaroni or egg noodles in an even layer on the bottom of the dish. Top with half of the beef mixture and spread evenly over the noodles. Sprinkle 1 cup of cheese over this layer then repeat with another layer of noodles, remaining beef mixture, and 1 cup of cheese. Dot with remaining tablespoon of butter then cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbling. Serve immediately!
